Durable structures for private wealth – and the discipline to keep them standing.
I work with high- and ultra-high-net-worth individuals, their families and their operating companies. The questions are usually the same ones: how assets are held, where they are held, how they pass to the next generation, and whether the file holds up when a bank, a regulator or a court eventually reads it.
The work is done in a small circle, over years rather than mandates, from Cham in the canton of Zug and across Switzerland, the European Union and Uruguay.

01 Practice
What the work
involves
-
01
Family office
Coordination of a family’s affairs across banks, advisers and entities – reporting lines, administration and the year-to-year consistency that keeps everything reconcilable.
-
02
Succession & inheritance
Arranging assets so they pass the way the family intends: wills, holding structures, governance, and the conversations that have to happen before any of it is drafted.
-
03
Company & equity structuring
Holding companies, shareholdings and intra-group arrangements built around where a business genuinely operates – not around where a structure is cheapest to register.
-
04
Trusts & funds
Establishment and ongoing oversight of onshore and offshore trusts and fund vehicles, with trustees, administrators and custodians chosen for the purpose rather than for convenience.
-
05
Financial & merchant services
Formation and authorisation of merchant and financial services companies in the European Union, Switzerland and Uruguay, through to operating banking relationships.
-
06
Tax & business consulting
Cross-border tax positioning for individuals and their companies, developed together with local counsel in each jurisdiction and documented to survive review.
-
07
Compliance
Onboarding, source-of-wealth and source-of-funds files, and the standard of documentation that banks and regulators now treat as the starting point rather than the exception.
-
08
Asset protection
Separating and insulating assets while it is still a planning exercise – which is the only point at which it works.
02 Approach
How the work
is done
Discretion is part of the work, not a promise attached to it.
Nothing about a client’s affairs travels further than it has to. Introductions, documents and decisions stay inside a small circle by design, and the circle does not grow because a project does.
A structure is worth what it does under pressure.
Not at the moment it is signed. The tests come later: a death, a divorce, a change of residence, a bank review, a counterparty who reads the file properly for the first time. Everything is built backwards from those moments.
Continuity beats transactions.
Most of the value appears in the third year and after – in relationships with banks, trustees and counsel that already exist when something has to move quickly, and in records that were kept properly when there was no urgency to keep them at all.
03 Jurisdictions
Where it
is done
- Switzerland
- Zug as a base: company law and corporate administration, banking and fiduciary relationships, and residence planning for families relocating to or through Switzerland.
- European Union
- Company formation, licensing and real substance in EU member states, coordinated with local counsel and matched to where a business has its people and its customers.
- Uruguay
- A long-standing route for internationally mobile families and businesses: free-zone and holding companies, financial and merchant services, and residence.
04 Background
Who you are
dealing with
I advise private clients and their companies from Cham, in the canton of Zug. Not as a bank, a fund manager or a distributor of anybody else’s product – there is nothing waiting to be sold at the end of a conversation. The work is deciding how something should be held, arranging it with the right counterparties, and then keeping it in order.
Clients arrive by referral: from families already advised, and from the bankers, trustees and lawyers who work alongside them. Most come with a structure someone else built and a reason to have it read again – a move, a sale, a death in the family, or a bank that has begun asking questions it never asked before.
What I am useful for is the part with no deadline attached to it: noticing that a residence, a shareholding and a will have stopped agreeing with one another, and saying so before somebody else has to.
